Blockchain technology can be controversial in the sense that it does not always make sense to use it in certain applications. It seems as of late it has been somewhat of a buzzword to enhance interest and uniqueness into common and ordinary products. Blockchain is a distributed ledger. That means if you want to store data in such a way as to make it public and unalterable, then blockchain is definitely a strong candidate for this use. With all the controversy about the trust in online voting lately, creating a voting system that could in fact be secure.
